입니다 is known as a "Declarative Final Ending" and it is attached to a noun, and the ending shows that the subject and predicate are identical to each other. It also indicates something specific.
Remember:- 이다 verb cannot be used in the form of -(으)ㅂ시다 (propositive) -(으)십시오 (imperative)
Examples
오늘은 화요일입니다 -- oh neul eun hwa yo il im ni da -- it's Tuesday today
여기는 박물관입니다 -- yuh gi neun pak mool gwan im ni da -- here is the museum
저것은 선풍기입니다 -- juh gut eun sun poong gi im ni da -- that is an electric fan
우리들은 학생입니다 -- woo ri deul eun hak saeng im ni da -- we are students
